TITANIC Who?
Imagine the top grossing movie of all time and you see NEON GENESIS EVANGELION. I have decided for the director to be David Fincher, who directed the tour de force we know as Fight Club. He has shown the ability to take the off beat and introspective, and bring them together to create a unique viewing experience. The special effects would obviously be handled by ILM (Industry Light and Magic), the guys who we know for doing the special effects on Star Wars. Since the children all require young looking actors and actresses, I welcome any advice you could give me on choosing candidates. One problem is that most audiences would be turned off if the movie was about 14 yr olds: so the actors chosen for the pilots are a bit older than 14, as to be able to connect with the audience.
EVANGELION THE MOVIE (Feb 2001)
Main Characters
Shinji Ikari: Colin Hanks
Why? Son of Tom Hanks, and appearing on the tv series Roswell, this talented young actor has displayed teen alienation (no pun intended) better than most actors could ever hope to.
Rei Ayanami:
Asuka Sohryu Langley: Jessica Alba
Why? Despite the marketing of her image on tv's Dark Angel, Jessica Alba does have some acting talent and if she grew here hair and died it red, she could pull off this role, attitude and all.
Misato Katsuragi:
Gendo Ikari: Edward Norton
Why? The man is one of the greatest actors ever, and when he grows facial hair (like in American History X), he looks as mean and intense as Gendo must appear (at least superficially). He'll also be able to pull off the sensitive scenes and intense emotion when required.
Kouzou Fuyutsuki: Walt Willey
Why? As a talented middle aged actor on the soap opera All My Children, Walt has shown he can be serious and funny, just like Kouzou. He also has to be able to pull of the serious demeanor necessary for Gendo's sidekick.
Ritsuko Akagi:
Ryoji Kaji: Brad Pitt
Why? Because the guy is a good actor, can pull off stubble, a pony tail and being a man of mystery. He also has the looks to epitomize Kaji and could give the necessary performances for the sensitive dialogue he has to deliver.
Supporting Characters
Chairman Keele: Adam West
Why? As one of the most memorable actors of the 20th Century (in Batman), this man has the presence to bring everyone to see this film, just to observe how Batman has aged.

Why? From Sinbad The TV Series to the daytime soap opera All My Children, Zen Gesner has shown the talent to pull off the bare minimum acting ability, which is all this role requires.
